When G&B launched 3 years ago, at the center of the collection was our “This shirt helps a foster child” shirt. The whole point was to raise money for kids in foster care & a number of former foster youth friends put their stamp of approval on the design—so everything was good, right??

Then we learned of the idea of “person first language.” Kids aren’t “foster kids.” They’re just kids. And narrowly defining them by what they’ve experienced rather than who they are can be hurtful and harmful. It’s not about being politically correct. It’s about acknowledging the dignity of every person.

We pulled the shirt and now—three years later—we’re re-releasing our new & improved version. Because this shirt (just like every other item we sell) does just that. It speaks out loud the mission of G&B: advocating, inspiring, & bringing awareness—and raising money for kids in foster care while we do it.
