EVERY DAY YOU WAKE UP, YOU’VE OVERCOME ANOTHER DAY.
SPECIAL MAY NATIONAL FOSTER CARE MONTH LIMITED DESIGN BY ARTIST TINA BAUER
“I remember when I was in foster care it didn’t feel temporary, as the crisis of entering into care seemed to effect every aspect of my life. I didn’t realize until I was out of foster care that it was a temporary time, because living in the unknown can feel so overwhelming as your body is in survival mode. I really want individuals in foster care to understand that there is Hope and a life beyond the current crisis + trauma. To find their sense of Belonging and value outside of this.” - Tina Bauer, Artist & Former Foster Youth
Tina Bauer was adopted with her brother out of foster care 20 years ago. Tina experienced many forms of abuse and neglect while in foster care. Her life’s dream is to advocate for children in vulnerable places. She has overcame many obstacles such as developmental delays and healing from trauma. She now teaches third grade in a Title One district and is married. She runs on coffee and Jesus. Tina recently picked up digital art as a hobby during the pandemic and her hobby has taken off. She sees her art as a healing place in her life since her trauma deeply affected her abilities to be creative. She wants to encourage foster parents to cultivate spaces for hobbies for their children in foster care as it can help with processing hard experiences.
